The friday 19.09.2025On the occasion of the national Clean-Up Day, Zermatt is once again mobilizing to make our mountains and alpine pastures cleaner.
For the twelfth year running, this day brings together individuals, associations, schools and companies with the same objective: to preserve the natural beauty of our region. In previous years, up to 2 tonnes of waste have been collected and recycled thanks to the efforts of everyone involved.
Would you like to play an active part in this major environmental initiative? Join us and help us rid the mountains of garbage. Nature and all mountain enthusiasts will thank you!
Meeting point : Obere Matten or Kirchplatz, depending on group size
Program :
08h00 : Welcoming all volunteers
08:00 - 11:30 (groups in the village) or until 15:30 (groups at altitude) : Garbage collection in groups according to defined sectors
11h30 : End of collection, assessment and closure for groups active in the village
15h30 : End of collection, assessment and closing for groups active at altitude
Practical info :
- Equipment for the clean-up operation, such as gloves and garbage can liners, will be provided on site. If you have your own gardening gloves, you can bring them along.
- Bring a picnic.
- Mountain footwear (hiking boots, trekking shoes)
- Depending on weather conditions, protect from sun, wind and rain.
- Details of the day's proceedings will be e-mailed to each participant a few days before the event.
